Let's Get Caught Up

Mave Silvertail, art by Megan Steadman

So last we left off, it was sometime near April 2021 and I had gone through a struggle of keeping my motivation up to continue writing. I had yet to find an audience for my books and I was becoming frustrated with Royal Road and my failed Blood and Bounty audio book.

Everything looked grim.

So I went on a 7 month hiatus.

At the time that I was working with other projects, I had an old user in my discord, who never made kept up with appearances, ask why I didn’t write anymore. I told him my hang ups, and he more or less told me that each time I fell off the horse didn’t mean to give up, because eventually you’ll ride it.

He was right, I needed to get back to writing.

So I returned back to Royal Road, made a bunch of new friends , together we formed an accountibility group. In this group we challenge ourselves to reach a weekly goal to strengthen our writing and writing related habits.

They’ve also become big supporters for the success of the Dragon Realms Saga. Honestly I wouldn’t keep up with this drive without them.

So let’s talk about DRS!

I’ve officially figured out exactly how many books I want in the series. Before it was 5, then 10, then 5 again, then 11, then 5, and now I figured it out! There will be 6!

6 you say? Yes, 6.

Vendetta’s Rise, Blood and Bounty, The Dawnedge War, The Mage King, Wayward Hawk, and Wintertide.

If you recall the blogs and art, originally Wayward Hawk was being written to be the 3rd book, but since then the Dawnedge War replaced that idea. Well I know how I want Wayward Hawk to be back in the picture as the new 5th book…more of that later in the years to follow.

The Dawnedge War, how’s that coming?

TDEW is coming out great! I’ve been writing it every morning and it’s been a blast to write it. I’ve been growing stronger as a writer and researching different ways to describe certain scenes and events, like dragon battles!

If you enjoyed the second half of Vendetta’s Rise and wanted more adventures with ARO, then you’re in luck. The Anti-Rogue Ops play a large part in this book, while still focusing on Koda’s character development.

There are a slew of new and interesting characters, including Mave, the leader of the harekin dragon riders— The Skyborne Military Operations (SMO for short)

Together with ARO these rag-tag soldiers will trek across enemy territory to save Koda from the clutches of a new menace!

Of course for this site, look forward to more interviews with indie writers and prepare for the continuation of monthly newsletters!

Stay frosty!
