Wintertide Update and the Future of Writing
I just finished the Wintertide outline after about 6 months of struggling with it
I’ve been very careful with this book. Probablly too careful trying to wrap up the arcs i set up. I wanted to touch up on past arcs as well, but mainly i tried to finish Elucard’s arc of trying to gain and keep happiness.. He nearly achieved it back in book 4. He was soooo close that the reader could taste it, but at the last second, I pulled the rug from under the reader and thrust Elucard in his familiar personal hell. I’m a big fan of the Don Bluth philosphy of storytelling of that the more a character suffers, the sweeter the happy ending will be. Earning. A character has to earn their prince charming.
In this case, Cade (Inle) would be the prince charming.
So now I have the outline, a planned 45 chapters and an Epilogue. I don’t foresee this being long book, but hell of an impactful one!
Where do I go from there though? Where will the writing journey take me after my liefe’s work has been completed. I told myself that after I finished The Dragon Realms Saga, my life will have achieved its long time goal. I will have a legacy to show the world. 10+ years of blood, sweat, and tears bound in a set of books. Can I top that? Will people want to read what else i have?
The Mage King barely sold. Neither did 15 Years and Counting. Are my words falling on blind ears…deaf eyes?
I’d like to move onto a sci-fi trilogy I have planned. Mecha space battles written in the first person. Its all new territory for me. I’ll post the first chapter of what I’ve written so far later so that you guys can get a nibble of what I’m planning.
Until then…just wait. Wait for Wintertide. It’s going to be very special, i promise =)
